What is a GreenPoint?

"GreenPoint" is the name for one square meter of land. You can buy a GreenPoint for US$ 39.90 (incl. shipping) and become the legal owner of this piece of land. Your purchase initiates the process of greening, that is, the restoration of the native vegetation of this part of the world.

What does Green Globe do?

Green Globe is the company behind GreenPoints. Green Globe buys areas of land in places where native vegetation has been removed or modified, splits them up in square meters (GreenPoints) and makes them available for people to buy. Our first project is in Queensland, Australia: "Project Tara". We will soon start new projects in other parts of the world.

Do I really own the land when I buy a GreenPoint?

Yes, when you purchase a GreenPoint you own a square meter of land. The certificate you receive is not just a nice reminder of your GreenPoint, but it's a legal document stating that you are the legal owner of that piece of land. For more details, see: Terms and Conditions

How can I order a GreenPoint?

You can order your GreenPoint in the Buy your own GreenPoint section of this site.
When you order a GreenPoint you follow these 3 steps:

  1. Confirm the location of the land you want to have, or choose it yourself by walking through the Grid and clicking on a free lot.
  2. Provide the shipping details. If you buy a GreenPoint for yourself you fill in your own name and address. You also provide us with the name that will be printed on the owner's certificate.
If the GreenPoint is a gift you provide the same details for that person. All address details are treated as confidential and will not be shared with others. See also our privacy policy.
  3. Fill out the order form. Here you provide the billing address and your credit card details.

After we have received your order we reserve the GreenPoint that you selected for you. After we have verified your payment we will send the certificate to the address you have  specified. The delivery will take between 3-14 days (depending on your location, see delivery details). We also send the owner a login name and password. With this login name and password the owner can change the details that are associated with his/her GreenPoint in the My GreenPoint section of this web site.

What will happen with the money I spend?

50% of the profits is reinvested in similar projects like the one in Tara. First in Australia, later also in other areas in the world

The other 50% is donated to a local organization that takes care of the environement, in the case of the Tara project this is Greening Australia

What can I do with the land after I've bought it?

You can't do a lot with it, since the intention is to make it green, and we will do that for you. You can't build or camp on your land, but you can of course visit it!

Top

When will Green Globe start greening the land?

The greening will start as soon as about 85% of an area has been filled up. Have a look at the up to date status of our greening project.

What are Green Globe's future plans?

When all GreenPoints of the first area (Queensland, Australia) have been taken, we will select a new area that needs help and we'll cover it with GreenPoints.
Furthermore we have some major plans to increase the number and size of our projects. See also our future plans.

Will this really make a difference?

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step". We believe in the idea of this Chinese proverb much as we believe in the idea of a greener world.
Green Globe's GreenPoints Project is a new approach to the problem of land clearance all over the world. If the GreenPoint approach works as well as we expect, we will intensify our efforts by buying larger areas of land in different parts of the world that need help.

Our first step towards this expansion is our partner program.

We are certain that once we have achieved a certain scale of activities, our small GreenPoints will make a big difference.

Can I visit the land?

Yes you can! If you live in Australia or plan to go there, why not? It's close to Tara, a small village about 400 km west of Brisbane, Queensland.
The location of the property is:

Myra Rd.
Western Darling Downs,
Shire of Tara,
Queensland,
Australia.

Please be nice to the area. You can visit it, but not camp or in any other way stay on the land.

What is the location of my land?

On this web site you will find three different types of coordinates that we use.

  1. The Grid coordinates
These are our own coordinates that we use specifically for the land in Tara. It's simply an x-y grid divided into separate "areas". The order confirmation number you receive after you have bought a GreenPoint is nothing more than these coordinates. E.g. TARA-A11-018-034 means that your land has the grid coordinates x = 18, y = 34 in area 11 ( Koala Corner ).

  2. Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM)
Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinates define two dimensional, horizontal, positions.
A typical example of UTM coordinates is:
    E 258 310, N 699 3728
The coordinates that you find on this web site are in fact Australian Map Grid (AMG) coordinates. The AMG coordinates are derived from a Universal Transverse Mercator projection of latitudes and longitudes on the Australian Geodetic Datum (AGD).

  3. Latitude & Longitude
This global coordinate system is the most commonly used coordinate system today. The Prime Meridian and the Equator are the reference planes used to define latitude and longitude.
A typical example of these coordinates is:
    Latitude: -27o -09' -28.061"
    Longitude: 150o 33' 39.634".

If you have your own GreenPoint and want to check what the UTM and latitude/longitude coordinates are go to the coordinates calculator.
